The company’s principal, Tina Payne, has over 30 years experience in commercial and management accounting, computers and investigation.

Tina has specialised in forensic accounting, financial investigation and computer forensics for the past 17 years, including 8½ years with the NZ Serious Fraud Office as a Senior Forensic Accountant and Electronic Forensic Investigator.

Since forming Financial Forensics in January 2011, Tina has been involved in numerous criminal, civil, employment and insolvency matters for both defence and prosecution.

As well conducting thorough analysis and investigation, Tina is experienced in scrutinising  evidence provided by other experts to determine its accuracy, completeness and reliability, and will challenge any weaknesses.

Tina has given forensic accounting and computer forensics expert evidence in New Zealand in the High Court, District Courts and the Employment Relations Authority. She has also provided expert evidence for the New Zealand Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of NSW Australia.

Forensic accounting assignments include trust matters, relationship property disputes, assessment of loss/damages, fraud and theft investigations, and defending charges brought by the Serious Fraud Office, IRD, Ministry of Health, NZ Police and other government departments. Tina also attends mediations to advise Counsel.

Electronic forensic assignments include the preservation of electronic data for evidential purposes, fraud and employee misconduct investigations, recovery of documents to defend alleged charges, analysis of documents and emails, and the reconstruction of deleted data including websites.

Tina's qualifications:

  • New Zealand Chartered Accountant (CA)

  • Graduate Diploma in Computing (Grad Dip Comp)

  • NZIM Diploma of Management (NZIM Dip Mgmt)
